General / Scribing Options:
Perimeter counters can be built in either of the two following ways:

- Template-in-a-Tube Kit: We provide a template-making kit, you return the template in the same tube and we will scribe the edges of the counter (where noted) to match the template. (Recommended solution, see Ordering: Template-in-a-Tube Kit for more information).
- Build-to-Print: You provide a scaled drawing (with wall abutting edges oversized for scribing) and we will build to print with scribable edges where noted. (RRC does NOT recommend the scribing of finished counters in the field if at all avoidable).
Sink / Cooktop Cutouts
Topmount and Undermount Sink cutouts / Please provide all of the following:
- Sink template*
*Many manufacturers provide online templates for sink cutouts. Check our Sink Manufacturers Page to see if we have access to your sink model.
- Sink location side-to-side
- Sink location from front edge of counter
Farmsink and Cooktop cutouts / Please provide one or the other of the following:
- Detailed drawing of the cutout including location (side-to-side and front-to-rear)
- Template of the cutout located on the countertop template.
Size Limitations / Perimeter Countertops
- 2-1/4" Thick Island Countertop / 140"W × 30"D
- 1-1/2" Thick Island Countertop / 140"W × 30"D
- 1-1/4" Thick Island Countertop / 140"W × 30"D
Field Joints
Field joints on perimeter counters are always handled as butt joints. This includes joints in long straight counters as well as joints at L-shaped counter configurations. When two counters are specified to fit together with a field joint, we hand-fit the abutting counters and provide them with a spline, and tight-joint fasteners in order to aid in installation.
